Introducing the Fall 2012 E-Board

Comments Off

Thank you to everyone who served on our Spring 2012 Executive Board! It is my pleasure to introduce the new Fall 2012 Executive Board:

President: Ben Loeb (@loebben)

Ben Loeb Headshot

Ben is a junior at American University studying marketing and public communication. Originally from just outside New York City, Ben has interned in both NYC and DC. He just returned from studying abroad in London and is looking forward to a great semester with AU Social Media Club. He has been involved with the club for the past three years serving as the club’s Treasurer and Vice President. When he’s not in class you can find Ben on Twitter or checking-in on Foursquare.

Vice President: Melanie Bird (@meloffbird)

Curious and practical, Melanie is a freshman majoring in Graphic Design with a minor in Marketing. Raised in North Carolina, this amateur Washingtonian is always looking for new places to discover in the city and hopes to sample as many DC restaurants as possible within the next four years. Melanie used to think of Twitter as place for bored teenagers to mindlessly complain about their lives or inform the world that they “made a sandwich and it was delicious”. However, after joining Social Media Club and getting involved with the awesome Social Learning Summit 2012 she has realized how versatile and valuable social media can actually be. Now officially addicted to #hashtags, Melanie is anxious to get the rest of AU and DC excited about Twitter and to take advantage of all the resources it has to offer.

Treasurer: Ben Wax (@tonymuhplaah)

Ben, also called Tony, is a current Sophomore at AU pursuing degrees in Business and Communications. As treasurer, he vows to tackle the club’s financial problems with vim and vigor, even though there is a vim shortage today’s marketplace.  When not in class, Ben/Tony enjoys playing video games and expecting the unexpected, along with having a minor gig as a YouTube superhero.
